The Girl With No Heart

Produced by Sparkle and Dark Theatre Company between 2011-2013

Directed by Shelley Knowles-Dixon

Delicate, provocative and haunting, The Girl With No Heart takes us on an epic journey into a paper world, where a child's heart has the power for either immeasurable good or unimaginable destruction.

Inspired by the tragic events of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings during WWII, the show explores the fragility and frustration of children surrounded by a war they cannot control.

This stark yet beautiful fable is brought to life with puppetry and live music - subtly interlacing Japanese Cultural references throughout.  It was funded by the Arts Council and toured to 15 venues throughout the UK including The Little Angel Theatre in London, Bedlam Theatre in Edinburgh and the Gulbenkian in Canterbury.
